Some Remarks on One-dimensional Functions and Their Riemann–Liouville Fractional Calculus

A one-dimensional continuous function of unbounded variation on [0,1] has been constructed.The length of its graph is infnite,while part of this function displays fractal features.The Box dimension of its Riemann–Liouville fractional integral has been calculated.     

Dimension polynomials of difference local algebras

We extend the concept of the difference dimension polynomial of a difference field extension to difference local algebras. The main theorem of the paper establishes the existence and form of the dimension polynomial associated with the localization of a finitely generated well-mixed difference algebra at a prime reflexive difference ideal.     

On Gorenstein Projective Dimensions of Unbounded Complexes

Let R → S be a ring homomorphism and X be a complex of R-modules. Then the complex of S-modules S?_R~L X in the derived category D(S) is constructed in the natural way. This paper is devoted to dealing with the relationships of the Gorenstein projective dimension of an R-complex X(possibly unbounded) with those of the S-complex S?_R~L X.It is shown that if R is a Noetherian ring of finite Krull dimension and φ : R → S is a faithfully flat ring homomorphism, then for any homologically degree-wise finite complex X, there is an equality Gpd_RX = GpdS(S?_R~L X). Similar result is obtained for Ding projective dimension of the S-complex S?_R~L X.     

MULTI-SCALE NUMERICAL MODEL FOR SIMULATING CONCRETE MATERIAL BASED ON FRACTAL THEORY

A new multi-scale numerical model is presented using the fractal theory and adopting FEM to simulate the failure of concrete.The relation between the fractal box dimension in large scale and the damage to concrete in small scale is deduced.And the evolutionary process of elastic modulus and strength in small scale is given.Consequently,the multi-scale numerical model is proposed to describe the constitutive relation of concrete between small scale and large scale.A two-dimensional static analysis of a concrete block is performed by using this model and the calculation result is discussed.The propagation of cracks of the concrete block is also studied.     

Asymptotic spectral analysis in semiconductor nanowire heterostructures

Mathematical settings in which heterogeneous structures affect electron transport through a tube-shaped quantum waveguide are studied, highlighting the interaction between material composition and geometric parameters like curvature and torsion. First, the macroscopic behaviour of a nanowire made of composite fibres with microscopic periodic texture is analysed, which amounts to determining the asymptotic behaviour of the spectrum of an elliptic Dirichlet eigenvalue problem with finely oscillating coefficients in a tube with shrinking cross-section. A suitable formal expansion suggests that the effective one-dimensional limit problem is of Sturm–Liouville type and yields the explicit formula for the underlying potential. In the torsion-free case, these findings are made rigorous by performing homogenization and 3d–1d dimension reduction for the two-scale problem in a variational framework by means of Γ-convergence. Second, waveguides with non-oscillating inhomogeneities in the cross-section are investigated. This leads to explicit criteria for propagation and localization of eigenmodes.     

On noncommutative piecewise Noetherian rings

We extend the definition of a piecewise Noetherian ring to the noncommutative case, and investigate various properties of such rings. In particular, we show that a ring with Krull dimension is piecewise Noetherian. Certain fully bounded piecewise Noetherian rings have Gabriel dimension and exhibit the Gabriel correspondence between prime ideals and indecomposable injective modules.     

On cohomological dimension and depth under linkage

Some relations between cohomological dimensions and depths of linked ideals are investigated and discussed by various examples.

The paper is concerned with the two-sample mean testing problem in high-dimension settings. We propose a composite Hotelling's T-square test, establish its asymptotical normality and study its local power. The finite-sample priority of the proposed test over existing high-dimensional tests is shown by simulations and illustrated by a real data-set analysis.
